Commissioning

When Automist Smartscan Hydra is powered up for the first time the YELLOW LED will remain solid and the system will chirp to indicate that the system has not been commissioned. Commissioning is a procedure that allows Automist's response to a fire to be tested in situ. During commissioning, the alarms sound, the sensors are tested, the pump runs for 60 seconds and the output pressure and water flow are monitored.

Commissioning is required:

  • Once all the components of the system have been installed and the system is powered.

  • As part of a yearly maintenance cycle.

  • If plumbing or construction work takes places, new alarms are installed, or maintenance work occurs which could affect the system.

  • Commissioning must be performed annually by an Authorised Automist Smartscan Hydra Installer.

Upon completion, the Authorised Installer will submit a completed commissioning form to the Approver.

Commissioning information is also submitted in the Plumis website “partner page” where the serial numbers of controller, pump and heads are provided as well as the operating pressure during each of the head commissioning discharges. Submission of the information to the partner website is a declaration that the installation has been completed and has followed Plumis guidelines, with any deviation stated on the submission so that it is included in the commissioning certificate. The Plumis website will generate a commissioning certificate once the automatic checks for consistency and completeness of data has been carried out. The certificate is an automated information check generated and logged by Plumis but it is the responsibility of the installer as it has their design and installation, as per the Authorised Installer contract.

Plumis keep a database of legitimate interest data for all authorised installations, including key details such as:

  • Installation date

  • Installation address

  • Trained specifier

  • Trained installer

  • Coverage area

  • Equipment list

  • Serial numbers of the equipment

  • Commissioning pressure for each commissioned sprayhead

  • Hose lengths

  • Layout drawing

  • Service date
